Premium Payment Guidelines 2008

What are the available payment facilities?

  1. Philam Life Branch Offices
  2. Payments in Philam Life branches can be made through cash or checks. You may also use your credit card (VISA, MASTERCARD, or JCB card) for over-the-counter premium payments at any of our Regional Offices, Automated Insurance Centers and selected Satellite Offices.

  3. Auto-Debit Facility
  4. This facility allows for the automatic debiting of your bank account for the premium amount due on your Philam Life policy/ies. Currently, the Auto-debit facility is available through Philam Savings Bank, and Security Bank account holders. Simply accomplish and submit an enrollment form at any of our branch offices for this facility.

  5. Auto-Charge Facility
  6. The policyowner's VISA, MASTERCARD & JCB credit card may be used to enroll for this facility. Premiums will be automatically charged to your credit card accounts. Enroll at any of our branch offices for this facility.

  7. Through your Agent
  8. Demand an agent's temporary receipt when paying through your agent. Wait for the Official Receipt that will be issued upon remittance of your premium to the Home Office.

  9. Authorized or Accredited Banks
  10. Payments through authorized or accredited banks may be made via the Bills Payment Facilities or via regular deposits.

    • Via Bills Payment Facility
    • Bills Payment Facility is one of the facilities provided by banks where they accept payments intended for bills of merchant establishments (eg. Philam Life) with whom they have collection arrangements. Payors need not provide the bank account number of the merchant but they must correctly indicate its merchant name (Philam Life).

We recommend payments via this facility for prompt processing since banks provide Philam Life with collection reports on the day following the payment date.

Please note however that only BPI and Security Bank may accept dollar payments for Philam Life policies through Bills Payment Facility

Payments through the Bills Payment Facility may be made through the following:

      Over-the- Counter

When paying premiums through authorized banks, fill up a Bills Payments slips with PHILAM LIFE as merchant, insured's name, policy number and the amount of payment. Payments may be made in cash, check or debited against your bank account. Present this with your premium payment and premium notice, previous official receipt or any correspondence from Philam Life at any of the following banks nearest you:

      • Allied Bank
      • Banco de Oro
      • Bank of the Philippine Islands
      • Philam Savings Bank
      • Planters Bank
      • Security Bank
      ATM

Premiums may be paid through ATM using the BPI Express Teller. Availment of the ATM facility requires the policyowner to be an ATM cardholder of the bank. Each policy to be paid through ATM must be enrolled at their respective banks.

      Internet

Premiums may be paid through BPI websites. Please choose Philam Life as the merchant. Availment of the Internet facility requires enrollment.

    • Via Regular or Direct Deposits to Philam Life Bank Accounts
    • While it is recommended that Bills Payment Facility be used, there may be instances where policyholders may not pay through this facility.

Example, a policyholder would like to effect fund transfer from his bank account where Philam Life has no collection arrangement or if policyholder is paying from abroad. For these and similar instances, policyholder may pay through regular deposits to any of the following Philam Life accounts.

Bank charges are imposed for regular or direct deposits depending on the bank and branch from which you are transferring funds. This is separately discussed under FAQ No. 3 below.

When paying within the Philippines, please use the following Philam Life accounts:

Do I have to pay for bank charges for payments made through banks?

For payments made through payment facilites discussed under e.1 above, you shall not pay bank charges.

For payments through regular deposits and payments abroad (inward remittances) discussed under e.2 above, bank charges will apply and will depend on which bank and branch from which you are transferring funds. Consider the following scenarios:

Scenario 1: Same bank, inter-branch, within toll telephone calling coverage - No charge
Scenario 2: Same bank, inter-branch, outside of the toll telephone calling coverage - Bank / service varies per bank but minimum amount is $1.00 or P100.00, whichever is applicable.
Scenario 3: Deposit from policyholder's account for credit to Philam Life's depository account different from the policyholder's bank account - Bank charges vary per bank but minimum amount is $5.00 or P100.00, whichever is applicable.
Scenario 4: Inward remittances (remittances from abroad)
    a) Bank abroad shall impose bank/service charges upon application.
    b) Correspondent bank of the local bank shall also impose bank/service charges.
    c) Receiving bank (Philam Life depository account) shall also impose bank/service charges.

Since bank/service charges vary per bank, we recommend that you add a minimum of $ 25.00 or P1,5000, whichever is applicable, to the amount being remitted on top of the premium amount. This is to ensure that net amount for credit to Philam Life is still sufficient to cover the required payment. Philam Life shall credit any excess payment as deposit to the policy. Insufficient payment shall be entirely credited only as deposit (not premium).
