Philam Life has continued to work towards educating Filipinos on the importance of financial planning, savings and investments as a venue to improving their way of life.
In spite of medical breakthroughs, the number of cancer cases continues to grow by leaps and bounds. But the fighters against humankind’s number one killer are not to be deterred.
In recognition of the battle that is yet to be won, Philam Foundation and its affiliate companies teamed up with the Philippine Cancer Society (PCS) to celebrate the annual cancer awareness advocacy and fund-raising event at the Amoranto Stadium in Quezon City this year.
Dubbed as “Relay for Life”, the event was attended by over a thousand participants that gathered in tents within the stadium’s track oval and took turns walking or jogging for 18 hours straight. That day, the Foundation was raised over Php800,000 from various fund-raising activities, with more than 500 of its employees attending the event.
Described as one of the most successful events in connection with cancer awareness advocacy and fund-raising for patients, Relay for Life is on its 20th year in the U.S., held annually by the American Cancer Society in over 3,000 communities in the country.
Apart from this event, the Foundation extended traditional financial assistance to the Heart Foundation of the Philippines, Philippine Tuberculosis, and Philippine Cerebral Palsy, Inc., among others. It also granted assistance in family planning through the Alliance for the Family Foundation and support to a medical mission through the Tahanang Walang Hagdan.
