Eligible Investments

Equity and Equity-Related Securities

  • common stocks listed and may reasonably be expected to be listed in the Philippine Stock Exchange
  • preferred shares
  • securities convertible into or exchangeable for such equity securities or which carry warrants to purchase such equity securities
  • unlisted stocks that have potentials of growth and value
  • other investments as may be approved by the Insurance Commission

Debt Securities

  • bonds or other evidences of debt issued or guaranteed by the Government of the Philippines, or its political subdivisions authorized by law to issue bonds, or of government-owned or controlled corporations and entities, including the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas
  • bonds, commercial papers, or other debt instruments issued by corporations, banks, supranationals and multilateral agencies
  • securities listed on or admitted to trading in a securities exchange located in the Philippines, or new bond or debt issues which may reasonably be expected to be listed on a securities exchange
  • money market instruments
  • bank deposits
  • cash
  • other investments as may be approved by the Insurance Commission

The Fund may, in addition to PHP-denominated securities, also invest in foreign currency-denominated securities issued by Philippine entities, as well as those issued by non-Philippine entities. For non-Philippine issues, securities will be limited to those approved by the Insurance Commission.

As the Fund does not intend to take currency risks, it will hedge any non-PHP denominated investment by entering into forward currency exchange contracts, cross currency and interest rate swaps and options, or other hedging transactions.

Portfolio Mix

Equity and equity-related securities shall comprise between 10% to 90% of the Fund?s invested assets, while debt securities shall comprise between 10% to 80% of the Fund?s invested assets.

Under normal market conditions, cash is the residual of the investment process. While the Fund will aim to maximize investments, it will ensure that an adequate amount is left in cash or near-cash assets to service redemptions.

Fund Restrictions

All of the Fund?s investments shall be in accordance with the Insurance Code/Commission guidelines, particularly with respect to prescribed limits on equity and debt investments in any one corporation. In addition, the Fund shall not be allowed to borrow against any or all of its assets.
