PHILAM LIFE EQUITY FUND
The Philam Life Equity Fund (PEF) is a peso-denominated investment fund created specifically for variable life insurance contracts issued by The Philippine American Life and General Insurance Company (Philam Life). This investment option is for the variable life policyholder with an investment objective of capital appreciation over a long-term investment horizon, and the risk appetite for the stock market. This is an equity fund which is intended to be predominantly invested in shares of growth companies, listed or unlisted in the Philippine Stock Exchange. For diversification and liquidity, fixed income instruments may also be held by the Fund.
Eligible Investments
The PEF will invest primarily in
- Preferred shares and common stocks of high-growth companies which are traded in the Philippine Stock Exchange
- Unlisted stocks that have potentials of growth and value
The Fund may also invest in
- Fixed income and money market instruments
- Bank deposits and cash
- Other investments approved by the Insurance Commission
Investment Restrictions
- The Fund shall not invest in excess of ten per centum of its assets in any one corporation.
- The Fund shall not be allowed to borrow against any or all of its assets.
- Any changes to the above investment policy or any portion therein, in accordance with company and regulatory policies and guidelines, require prior approval by the Insurance Commission
Portfolio Mix
Given its investment objective, the bulk of the Fund will be invested in eligible stocks with allocation for fixed-income instruments such as money market instruments, bank deposits or cash for liquidity. The Fund Manager will determine allocation per asset type depending on the investment strategy, market conditions and Fund requirements.
Sufficient levels of cash and highly liquid instruments will be maintained to ensure availability of funds for servicing redemptions. Under exceptional circumstances such as when a substantial portion of the Fund cannot be sold, collected or valued, redemptions may temporarily be suspended.
