Security Selection
The Fund's investment will be spread out in the global market. A fundamental analysis approach to the investment decision-making process will be applied. This takes into consideration credit, duration and curve, country allocation and currency. A top-down assessment of macroeconomic trends, money flows and economic data will be undertaken together with a disciplined bottom-up issue selection process. Management of the Fund is mainly credit-driven while interest rate risks are managed on a long-term trend basis. Portfolio duration will be modified only if there is a fundamental shift in outlook of medium- and long-term interest rate trends. Currency decisions will be taken separately from interest rate positions and issue selection.
Wherever appropriate, the Fund may utilize techniques and instruments such as futures, options, securities lending arrangements and forward currency contracts for efficient portfolio management and for protection against certain foreign exchange risks.
Under normal circumstances, cash is the residual of the fixed income process. However, active decisions to raise cash as part of the fixed income process can be used when deemed necessary.
Fund Restrictions
All investments of the Fund will be in accordance with the Insurance Code/Commission guidelines.
